As its name suggested, DotA Truyền Kỳ used the universe of the original DotA and brings us to the familiar battles of famous Heroes such as Kunkka, Lina, Traxex, Raigor… Now, these Heroes will form a party of 5 and battle against other parties on 2D view, and everything is done automatically, just like most of the collectible card games.

But DotA Truyền Kỳ has brought a new height to these fierce battles, by allowing us to use the active skill of each Hero whenever we see fit. This makes the battles turn into unpredictable tides, not only relying on the stats and levels of the Heroes, but also the wit and experience of the players. Each party is divided into 3 different ranks: front, mid and back.

Front Heroes’s task is to tank damage head-to-head with the enemy tanks, while mid Heroes are powerful spellcasters who can dish out large amount of AoE damage. The back line acts as supporters by healing the team or sniping down weak Heroes who’re low on health.[space space_height=”20″]

The key factor to make a good collectible card game is to have lots of interesting mini-games and daily events, and in this term, VNGGame has done a fine job thanks to their yearly experience of managing MMORPGs in the past. The number of events that you could join in DotA Truyền Kỳ is vast, including basic activities like campaign, arena and daily quests.

+ A few nuisances:

Nobody’s perfect, and the same goes for DotA Truyền Kỳ. The first nuisance to mention about is the fixed formation of the team. In DotA Truyền Kỳ, Heroes are put into solid categories and their places and roles are fixed in a formation. You can’t change the place of a frontline Hero to the mid/back line and vice versa.

Second, the balance between Heroes is somewhat annoying. For example, Raigor in DotA is a nuker and not a tanker by any mean – but in DotA Truyền Kỳ,  he’s forcefully put into the frontline, which puts him into a disadvantage with other tankers.

The last, is the Auto mode of this game. It’s quite stupid and useless, because when a skill is fully charged, the Hero (controlled by A.I) will immediately use it, regardless the current situation, such as using a healing spell when everyone is at full health, or to cast a powerful spell on an enemy that’re very low on health.[space space_height=”20″]
