[dropcap style=”style1″]S[/dropcap]quare Enix has announced that it’s bringing the Japan-only browser title “Kingdom Hearts X[chi]” to iOS and Android in this week’s issue of Famitsu magazine.
Vietgame.asia – This is the announcement that Kingdom Hearts creator Tetsuya Nomura teased a few weeks ago, you may remember.
The smartphone version of Kingdom Hearts X[chi] is based on the browser game. However, it has been reworked for touchscreens, of course, and will have new story mechanics. In Kingdom Hearts X[chi] you play as a Keyblade wielder during the Great Keyblade War, with parts of the story that weaves Kingdom Hearts III. The upcoming smartphone version, Kingdom Hearts Unchained X[chi], will be based off the browser game, except renewed for smartphone.
Unchained X[chi] will have a new system for the smartphone version, and Square Enix are currently preparing new story mechanics for it, too. While the browser version of the game has only released in Japan, perhaps the West will now get a better chance of getting the game on smartphone.
So, why hasn’t the game been localized for the North America and Europe? Kingdom Hearts X[chi] was on track for localization and Disney was going to release it. Plans for Kingdom Hearts X[chi] changed when Playdom, a social game network acquired by Disney Interactive, was closed earlier this year.
Kingdom Hearts Unchained X[chi] will release in Japan sometime in 2015 for Android and iPhone.[su_icon_panel background=”transparent” border=”1px none #cccccc” shadow=”0px 0px 0px #eeeeee” icon=”icon: html5″ icon_color=”#1f6dc9″ icon_size=”70″ url=”http://www.square-enix.com/”][/su_icon_panel][su_icon_panel background=”transparent” border=”1px none #cccccc” shadow=”0px 0px 0px #eeeeee” icon=”icon: facebook-square” icon_color=”#1f6dc9″ icon_size=”70″ url=”https://www.facebook.com/KingdomHearts”][/su_icon_panel]Thanks, Siliconera.
