That’s the set up for Twin Shooter. Each thumb, planted on either side of the screen, controls one jet. You move them up and down to blast away at enemies in the centre of the battlefield.

Which is all well and good until you realise that you can shoot yourself. And the game is especially cheeky in putting in enemies that you can only shoot from one side, which means you’ll need to weave your ships through each other’s bullets to get at them.

Twin Shooter distills the experience of the explosive action of arcade machines such as Space Invaders or Defender and brings it to your phone, maintaining the same kind of playability: easy to pick up and play, but hard to master!

Twin Shooter is a headache to write about. It’s even more painful to play. But in a good, satisfying, and ultra one-more-go addictive kind of way. And it’s out in a couple months.
