Maybe partially because of limitation of hardware and touch control base or the essence of mobile game is not about letting people spend as much time as PC game or Console platform.

After the resounding success of Ravenmark: Scourge of Estellion (2013), Witching Hour Studios has decided to continue their art work with the Ravenmark: Mercenaries, which is free on App Stores.

With strategic gameplay taken from the typical legendary game Fire Emblem, will it be possible that Ravenmark: Mercenaries can be in the collection of gamers? Let us find out! “KEY” FEATURE

Impressive gameplay

Quite different from most of strategic mobile games which are based mostly on the defense type, Ravenmark: Mercenaries has it depth when people approach to it. It requires players to spend time on finding out and making a suitable strategy in every stage.

Basically, Ravenmark: Mercenaries has used many opposite factors and move army quite the same as Fire Emblem, where infantry kills infantry with spear, who kill cavalry and cavalry kill infantry. The battle interface is divided into squares and each type of army has different moving ability (far or near). Additionally, there are middle ones who have ability to support and are not opposite to any kind of army.ravenmark-mercenaries-danh-gia-game-7[su_quote]Basically, Ravenmark: Mercenaries has used many opposite factors and move army quite the same as Fire Emblem[/su_quote]

You will play a role as a general and fight with computer or others. Two sides have a certain of command points every turn and control armies at the same time. To put it simple, you cannot know where cavalry of enemy will go or archers will hide, all is almost real

In addition to that, there is a way to increase the attack force of your army if you go first. Three orders Advance, Pursue and Stand Ground aims to lead army to more in a strategy each turn, attack or wait for enemy to come closer. Moreover, formation and direction (South, north, west, east) in Ravenmark: Mercenaries has a big influence on the ability to attack and our indices. With 4 types of formation, form – break – wheeling – flip, you will have hundreds of attacking style.

Bad graphic and sound

It is hard to know the real quality of a game based on trailers or advertisements. Ravenmark: Mercenaries is an example of disappointment about graphic basis, not special in high resolution devices such as iPad Air. Moreover, movement of characters is not smooth, no real simulation.

The general sound of Ravenmark: Mercenaries is not better. Background music is quite boring and repeated itself for many times. Sounds of weapons, friction is raw, groaning sound is creepy, not magnanimous.

Other disadvantages

Ravenmark: Mercenaries should be focused on talking about mechanism, structure of game. However, after 10 minutes reading manuals, I felt not very clear about gameplay and spent more 10 minutes to partially get the detail ways of playing.

Another limitation is about plot. If you were truly a mercenary you should not care about why this world keeps spinning around the current chaos state or find a right thing to do. It simply is about to accomplish missions. It is boring compared to Ravenmark: Scourge of Estellion. SUGGESTION

  • Improve sounds and graphic
  • Change and add more detail instruction
  • Introduce briefly the general plot

The thing is if you have time, you can fix those problems by reading the whole information in the library codex. It’s quite odd that all the best of Ravenmark: Mercenaries was expressed in some boring pages of paper.

On the other hand, the most annoying thing in Ravenmark: Mercenaries is the sudden advertisement’s appearance. Five minutes once, it forces us to pay money to turn it off. They do know how to get money by giving a nice price that makes you easily pay for a good army.[su_icon_panel background=”transparent” border=”1px none #cccccc” shadow=”0px 0px 0px #eeeeee” icon=”icon: html5″ icon_color=”#1f6dc9″ icon_size=”70″ url=”http://www.witching-hour.net/portfolio/ravenmark-mercenaries/”][/su_icon_panel][su_icon_panel background=”transparent” border=”1px none #cccccc” shadow=”0px 0px 0px #eeeeee” icon=”icon: facebook-square” icon_color=”#1f6dc9″ icon_size=”70″ url=”https://www.facebook.com/witchinghourSG”][/su_icon_panel][su_icon_panel background=”transparent” border=”1px none #cccccc” shadow=”0px 0px 0px #eeeeee” icon=”icon: apple” icon_color=”#1f6dc9″ icon_size=”70″ url=”https://itunes.apple.com/app/ravenmark-mercenaries/id560444634?mt=8″][/su_icon_panel][su_icon_panel background=”transparent” border=”1px none #cccccc” shadow=”0px 0px 0px #eeeeee” icon=”icon: android” icon_color=”#1f6dc9″ icon_size=”70″ url=”https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.witchinghour.ravenmarkmercs”][/su_icon_panel][su_divider]
