If you are a player with indulgence in hidden-object puzzle adventure (HOPA), you should know Boomzap, developer releasing this type of game a lot on Big Fish Games website. However, in 2014, Boomzap has changed the development path, which focuses more on mobile games.
Super Awesome Quest is the right example along the new path. It was named The Quest and has released to public at the end of 2014 in Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia and Philippines. The game has a quite simple plot mentioning about the adventures of three heroes as they try to earn back their honor, riches, and super awesomeness by fighting the hordes of the Undead Army, crafty kobolds, nefarious bounty hunters, dangerous dragons – and more – through an innovative token-flipping combat system. It has been officially released to the world in July 09, 2015.

Basically, Super Awesome Quest is the perfect compound mixed with 3 different genres: role-play, strategy and cards game, quite popular recently. Player has to control the character going through different scenes, with the mission of eliminating all enemies based on a board like Candy Crush Saga or other following games.
This board would allow main character to attack, defend, heal or support based on each “rock”. With every touch to a rock, all the around others would also be turn over to make new options for players. Specially you could also make many combos if some rocks with the same function are nearby with whatever the direction, or reset to the new board with the unique rock in the current board.
As such simple gameplay as mentioned above, you think Super Awesome Quest is easy through first scenes, you are wrong! This is a every challenging game with difficulty level increasing gradually every stages, even when you replay the previous stages.
If you are not careful enough, combining attack and defend well, “You Lose” is what you are going to see. Especially enemies gets stronger and more complicated. This is what attracts gamers most.
Deep Roleplaying
As mentioned, Super Awesome Quest is a roleplay game, which is highlighted quite clear. The main character will have some sort of basic indices such as blood, level, experience point, besides the equipment system interface.
Along with upgrading, this system will enhance player stronger by equipment such as weapons, armors, helmets,… and even pet. Of course pet has its different indices of blood, level, attack to support player.
On the other hand, roleplay is also expressed in Super Awesome Quest by allowing to choose type of character. In the beginning with two basic type of characters which are Paladin and Valkyrie, later on you will be able to have more different types to choose. However, it is unfortunate that you will be capable of controlling only one type of character and not combining each other in a battle.
Besides, Super Awesome Quest has a unique upgrading system to create new equipment supporting players. This is the only place where to get the better stuff (could be dropped but rarely) as in game there is no store or shop selling these. Therefore, all the money you have collected is all used to make new things.
Obviously apart from detail equipment, another point that make player impressed is allowing character to take a selfie with customized postures and status.
Good sound and graphic
Graphic and sound are basically not the noticed things in type of mobile games, fortunately Super Awesome Quest has successful fulfill this. Although it is not every special and remarkable, graphic and sound in this game has the adequate, balanced point, expressing the legend essence along the circumstance, as well as design style of knights
Moreover, the interface of Super Awesome Quest is also shown in a very visual way and easy to use. Even though hints are not clear enough, some things require player to hold the screen to show the necessary information.
Easy to get bored
Despite having many key factors to be a successful mobile game, Super Awesome Quest still have a deadly weakness. The game’s difficulty is too high, making player has to go back to previous level if they want to level up.
Moreover, after completing each stage, enemies get stronger making you feel lost, if you do not have good equipment. That make the players have to repeat the level again and again, because the new stage is too hard to finish. This is quite boring.
Meanwhile Super Awesome Quest looks ‘awesome’ but does not as too hard to play.
