[dropcap style=”style1″]S[/dropcap]QUARE ENIX today announced that the widely regarded “FINAL FANTASY VII” is now available on the App Store for compatible iOS devices.

Vietgame.asia – Final Fantasy VII is a huge cult classic, about a mercenary who joins a bunch of Eco-terrorists to stop a mega corporation from sapping life out of the planet. And then you put on a dress and go snowboarding and meet a talking dog.

The game is played with a mess of on-screen virtual controls which work totally fine for the (typically) slow-paced gameplay of FF7, but feel far less than ideal. Character movement is handled either via a super-rigid on-screen D-pad or a much better virtual analog stick. This is based on the PC port from a while back, and the ability to turn off random encounters and a “max stats” command to become all powerful in a flash.

Alongside Final Fantasy VII for iOS, Square Enix will release the Final Fantasy Portal App for iOS and Android. This app has news about the Final Fantasy series and more importantly Triple Triad, the card battling mini game from Final Fantasy VIII.

Final Fantasy VII costs $15.99 on App Store, and it doesn’t look like there are any in-app purchases.
