[dropcap style=”style1″]N[/dropcap]ot long after removing games like Afterburner Climax and Streets of Rage from the App Store and Google Play, Sega has killed off even more mobile games.
Vietgame.asia – Earlier this month, Sega warned customers that it was removing an unspecified number of mobile games from the iTunes App Store, Google Play and other mobile marketplaces. The games in question, Sega said, no longer met its standards for quality — though the publisher never specifically said which games were being pulled.
A week or so after saying that, Sega has done the deed, and pulled a handful of mobile games from sale.
Dreamcast favourite ChuChu Rocket! is no more, and Mega Drive gems Gunstar Heroes, Streets of Rage 2, Shinobi III, Sonic Spinball, and Shining Force are gone.
As of now, the only classic Sega games available on mobile are Sonic 1, 2, and CD, and Crazy Taxi.
Android users will have to rely on emulation to get their retro kick. iOS users will have to look at a photo of a Game Gear in Safari and sigh wistfully.
Sega promises that current customers will be able to re-download purchased games. And of the newly delisted apps, it says “while we have nothing to announce at this time, given the right situation, these titles may return in an updated form”.
